    Description

    Here's a rare milkglass stopper lid for a McCarty Vacuum Fruit Jar from Wellsburg, W.VA.  The lid is embossed
    McCARTY PAT.MARCH 7-99
    on top in bold letters.  Opaque white milkglass.....2 3/4"across top....2 1/4"across bottom.....1"tall.  It has a natural slit or notch in the top rim.....a groove around the base which probably had a sealing rubber. It has one big chip out of the bottom rim; no other damage. A nice clean stopper. This is a very scarce stopper for a jar valued at 00 and up. In the Fruit Jar Redbook No.11 it is #2141. This lid is valued at 20-25% of the total value of the jar, but it does have a big chip so I'm guessing at the price. I just dug the stopper lid, but unfortunately the jar was broken.
