    Note:
When installing sights "fitting" is commonly required. If you are unfamiliar with "fitting" sights you should do some research.
Here is an excerpt from ehow's instructions on fitting a sight.
Check the fit of your new sights in the empty dovetail grooves on the top of the slide. They will not fit yet, but you are checking to see how much filing will be necessary to make them fit.
File the bottoms of the sights with the metal file while occasionally checking to see how they fit into the dovetail slots. Do not file the bottoms of the sights so much that they slide through the dovetails easily or you will have ruined your new sights.File the angle faces on the sides of the sights with the triangular file, if necessary, to make them fit into the dovetail grooves on your pistol's slide. Be careful to maintain the same angle on the angle face of the sights and periodically check if they fit into the dovetails, or you could ruin your sights.
