    COLLECTOR SCALE:
Alumodels F4U Corsair with 140.5 inch wing span is about 1/3.5 scale.
    RC SCALE:
ESM F4U Corsair with 94 inch wing span is about 1/5.2 scale, use 1/5 scale.
Lindinger F4U Corsair with 93.5 inch wing span is about 1/5.3 scale, use 1/5 scale.
Ziroli F4U Corsair with 93 inch wing span is about 1/5.3 scale, use 1/5 scale.
Topflite F4U Corsair with 86.5 inch wing span is about 1/5.6 scale.
Measure the instrument panel space width of your aircraft. The fuselage of most RC aircraft seem to be a little fat, adjust cockpit panels to fit.
    FINE SCALE:
Print LIFE SIZE PNG file onto 35mm (24x36mm, about 1½ inches wide) slide film.
A 35 inch wide panel printed full frame = about 1/24 scale, 2/3 frame = about 1/32 scale, and ½ frame = about 1/48 scale. Hi-white the back and install. The detail is there, but you’ll need a magnifier to see it.
Use this ratio to tailor panel fit:
Famous Gillows F4U Corsair in about 1/16 scale.
Tamiya, Revell and similar F4U Corsair in 1/32 scale.
Fine scale models tend to have thicker scale skin. Adjust accordingly.

By the end of WW2, Corsair
pilots had amassed an 11:1 kill ratio against enemy aircraft. The aircraft's distinctive inverted gull-wing design allowed ground clearance for the huge – 13 foot Hamilton Standard propeller with a P&W R2800 engine was best combination ever flown on a fighter aircraft.
Charles Lindbergh flew bombing missions in a Corsair with Marine Air Group 31 against Japanese strongholds in the Pacific in 1944. CDkit F4U set ‘TAB’ is included on F4U4 and F4U7, but can be added to any F4U.
    F4U1/1A CDkit
shows separate engine gauges later replaced by a 'tri-gauge' as with F4U1D. CDkit F4U set ZB3 'carrier finder' ADF receiver may be added as on F4U1D. F4U1 Corsair first flew with VMF124 on Guadalcanal. Then the 'Slot' and 'rowboat to Rabaul' with VMF214.
    F4U1D / FG1D Corsair
'Mudfighter' was the first Marine fighter to use HVARs, HE bombs, and napalm. F4U1D was first with ‘brow’ switches, and was fitted with ARB / ZB3 'carrier finder' ADF receiver.
    F4U4 Corsair ‘4-hog’
    - ‘Sweetheart of Okinawa.’ F4U4 was the fastest accelerating aircraft in the Pacific. Many F4U1s were factory modified to F4U4 specs to overtake any Kamikaze. The ‘4-hog’ reached its zenith over Korea using ATAR 6.5” shaped charge anti-tank rocket against Russian built T34s.
    F4U7 Corsair
were built for French Aéronavale and flew non-stop for France over Dien Bien Phu, Suez ‘Musketeer’, and Algeria from 1954-61. F4U7s became a 'tank killer' with wire guided SS11 anti tank missiles.
