RC SCALE:
Lindinger B17 wing span = 76.8 inches for 1/16 scale.
Freewing B17 wing span = 64 inches for about 1/20 scale.
Measure the instrument panel space width of your aircraft. The fuselage of most RC aircraft seem to be a little fat, adjust cockpit panels to fit.
FINE SCALE:
Print LIFE SIZE PNG file onto 35mm (24x36mm, about 1½ inches wide) slide film.
A 35 inch wide panel printed full frame = about 1/24 scale, 2/3 frame = about 1/32 scale, and ½ frame = about 1/48 scale. Hi-white the back and install. The detail is there, but you’ll need a magnifier to see it. Use this ratio to tailor panel fit.
HK B17 in 1/32 scale and Monogram in 1/48 scale.
Fine scale models tend to have thicker scale skin. Adjust accordingly.

B17 Flying Fortress
CDkit B17 LIFE SIZE panel width is a little over 54 inches. Overall width with fire box is 62 inches. Height ranges from 18½ to 19 inches. Main gauges are 3.125 inch diameter.

- B17C&D - Fortress I – used R1820-65 engines and self sealing tanks.
Philippines Dec41: after Colin Kelly bombed CA Ashigara, he was shot down by Saburō Sakai in his A6M2 Zero. Kelly flew his burning Fortress long enough for the surviving crew to bail out – received DSC. The Swoose at Wright Pat is the only surviving B17 to have seen action in the Philippines.

Christmas 1943: Franz Stigler avoided shooting down Charlie Brown’s crippled B17F Ye Olde Pub  - memorialized in the painting and book ‘A Higher Call’.

B17E Fortress II – similar to B17F: The crew of Old 666 photo recon B17E version was the most highly decorated in Pacific.
