    Description

Otto Brauer’s Gulvvase (Floor Vase) blue
I am selling 2 of my Holmegaard gulvases collection. This one measures 12’’ / 30cm
As with any glassworks, there are always occasional items that deviate from standard production models. Glassworks, especially Holmegaard, often produced non-standard pieces for sale to visitors through their factory shops. In some instances, there were stoppered examples, where the ball-shaped stoppers had shafts to hold them in the vases, such as the other one I am selling – they are considered to be very rare. The book Dansk Glas 1925-1985 shows an example of a tall Carnaby vase in transparent ruby-red glass with such a stopper. I also saw exemplars of signed Holmegaard Michael Bang Carnaby vases with the same type of stopper (pictures available on request for identification). The more “regular” vases were not having stoppers initially, but Holmegaard hanging balls (like Christmas tree baubles) were placed on top, with the loop for threading the string hidden inside the vase.
The colour is a lighter blue than the regular turquoise Gulvase and it is triple cased (clear light blue layers inside and outside with white opaque layer encased).
I acquired that piece and another one with stopper for sell as well, in the Netherlands.
    Height 12 inches / 30 cm
Weight 1085g (heavier than “regular” gulvases for same size, as it is triple cased)
Diameter at the base 12 cm / circumference 38 cm
    Its condition is used.
