RC SCALE:
AluModels B25 wing span = 204 inches for 1/4 scale – big!
Measure the instrument panel space width of your aircraft. The fuselage of most RC aircraft seem to be a little fat, adjust cockpit panels to fit.
FINE SCALE:
Print LIFE SIZE PNG file onto 35mm (24x36mm, about 1½ inches wide) slide film.
A 35 inch wide panel printed full frame = about 1/24 scale, 2/3 frame = about 1/32 scale, and ½ frame = about 1/48 scale. Hi-white the back and install. The detail is there, but you’ll need a magnifier to see it.
Use this ratio to tailor panel fit HK B25 in 1/32 scale, and Monogram B25 in 1/48 scale.
Fine scale models tend to have thicker scale skin. Adjust accordingly.

B25B Tokyo Raider
CDkit includes graphics for modifications completed at Mid-Continent Airlines, McClellan, and Sacramento Air Depot. Norden’s straight and level electronics were used by the added Sperry A2 auto pilot as heading and altitude. The intercom remained, and some got a separate fuel gauge for the auxiliary tank as shown in CDkit. Much information comes from York’s B25B 40-2242 in Vladivostok. ‘3’ is apparently Russian ‘эскорт’ for escort or safe conduct.
B25D Skip Bomber
with Sperry A3 autopilot became Pappy Gunn’s long range ship killer used at Bismarck Sea. For fortifications and air bases: "parafrags." Crews of B25s suffered hearing loss more frequently than artillery crews. Marines used B25C/D as PBJ1C/D with LORAN and APS-3 search radar for night ops with 5in HVARs and torpedoes. B25C was built at Inglewood CA, B25D at Kansas City, KS
PBJ1H Marine Ship Killer
was sparse but deadly: Pilot with his single set of controls, and copilot on radar to fire torpedo, 5 inch HVAR rockets on Mk51 rack, even Tiny Tims. Also navigator and T13E1 75mm loader, plus two radio-gunners. The top turret was removed near the end of WW2, and no more need for waist guns. Installed AN/APN-1 radio altimeter (under scope), Mk-IV drift sight and AN/APN-4 Loran.
Radar was Philco ASD1 (AAF APS-3) x-band surface search, and ideal for blind bombing. Exterior installation was as ugly snout for PBJ1D, on left wing for PBJ1H, and under belly (original B25B turret hole) on PBJ1J. In the cockpit ASD1 consists of 2x 5inch B scopes as shown. Info from Marines on Eniwetok and Saipan.
B25J Strafer, bomber, ground attack
- with 14 forward firing guns and very long range. B25J was active through the 1970s. The Marine used it as PBJ1Js with ‘Tiny Tims." B25J in movies: Joseph Heller’s Catch-22 w Alan Arkin and a TV miniseries, and Forever Young w Mel Gibson where the Mitchell is landed on a tiny grass pasture on Point Arenas lighthouse at Mendocino, Ca by Steve Hinton.
