    Description

    This is an early free blown pontiled fruit jar or storage jar made in the late 1700s or early 1800 period.....It was either free blown or blown into a dip mold....pontil scar on bottom .....smooth sheared wide mouth flared lip....olive green.....10 1/2"tall x 4 3/4"round.....4 3/8"across mouth opening....the pontil scar is around a large protruding hill in the middle of a sunken trough bottom. You can feel the pontil ring....I guarantee it is pontiled..Excellent condition with no chips or damage. A nice clean jar with only some light normal wear and some light scratches. Some normal old wear on bottom surface. This was a popular style of storage jar in the 1700s. It would have been sealed with either a glass ball, a large cork or wood plug sealed with wax. Guaranteed authentic and 200 years old. It came from an old New England collection
